(WLWT) – An Ohio sheriff's office is investigating after saying someone broke into a farm and released up to 40,000 minks from their cages.
The Van Wert County Sheriff's Office said it happened overnight Tuesday when the suspect broke into Lion Farms USA Mink Farm in Hoaglin Township, destroyed its fencing and released 25,000 to 40,000 minks from their cages.

Authorities warned residents and local farmers that minks are carnivorous mammals that stick to a diet consisting of fresh kills and regularly hunt prey bigger than themselves.
