(LIBERTY LOFT) – According to a report from The Palm Beach Post, five teachers were sent home for not wearing masks to school in Jupiter, Florida at the Limestone Creek Elementary School. The school told the teachers that they had to leave for not following a policy that was set in place by the Palm Beach County School district which requires teachers to wear masks due to the spread of COVID. There is a state law in place that prohibits mandates for children to wear a face covering, but this law does not prohibit mandates for teachers to wear face coverings.
According to the report by The Palm Beach Post, Claudia Shea, the school district spokesperson, said that the teachers were sent home last Thursday, with pay, for their violations. They did not come back to school on Friday or Monday, but Shea did not confirm whether the teachers were paid for those days. The five teachers are now subjected to a personnel investigation and may face disciplinary action for their refusal to follow the policies set in place.
