Conflict, even violent conflict, in the Middle East dates back not years or even centuries, but millennia.
However, the current strife between Israel and Palestinians who started lobbing rockets and bombs at the region's only democracy from Gaza could prove much more significant than previous conflagrations, because it could end up with a "shooting war," according to Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas.
Cruz was interviewed on the Todd Starnes show, and explained that President Trump consistently stood, strongly, with Israel.
"We moved our embassy to Jerusalem, something I urge the president to do. And he agreed with me and did. And it produced this oasis of peace. We saw the Abraham Accords. We saw Arabs and Israelis making peace agreements together for the first time in decades. What happened?" he said.
"Joe Biden comes in, immediately begins undermining Israel," he said.
The Democrat resumed funding the Palestinian Authority, which supports Hamas, a designated terror organization.
And Biden begins negotiations to send more money to Iran, the Ayatollah Khomeini, who regularly chants death to America and death to Israel, Cruz said.
"And it is producing. We are on the verge of a shooting war in the Middle East because Joe Biden and Kamala Harris undermine our friends and want to send money to our enemies," he said.
Starnes had noted that the senator has been speaking out on the attacks on Israel, which have been supported by leftists even in the American Congress, like Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn.
Cruz said, "I'm very concerned. Hamas is raining rockets down on the people of Israel. They're doing it with the financial support and backing of Iran, of the Ayatollah Khomeini. And this is the result of foreign policy mistakes, enormous blunders by Joe Biden and Kamala Harris."
He cited the Abraham Accords, for which President Trump was nominated for a Nobel prize.
Those involved peace accords developed, with leadership from the Trump administration, between Israel and its Arab neighbors in Morocco, Bahrain, Sudan and the United Arab Emirates.
They were the first peace agreements between Israel and its neighbors in more than a generation, and more deals were in the works when Trump left office, according to reports.
Former former deputy national security adviser K.T. McFarland said the agreements were significant.
"It's the first peace agreement between Israel and Arabs in not just 10 or 20, it's like a couple of thousand years. What President Trump has done, as everybody was paying attention elsewhere, he was able to craft an agreement and convince the Arabs that their only sort of prosperity platform, the only way they could get to peace and prosperity, was by having a peace agreement with Israel," she said recently.
President Trump's plan for the Middle East involved going directly to Israel's Arab neighbors, and bypassing the Palestinians, who long have been an obstruction for any peace plans.
WND columnist Michael Brown reported on the agreements that America is watching "history unfold before our eyes."
"And it is America that is brokering these deals with Israel and these Muslim nations," he pointed out.
