America's federal Racketeering Influenced and Corrupt Organizations law was adopted in 1970 as the ultimate attack on mob crime.
It says it targets prostitution rings, drug trafficking, counterfeiting and extortion. And other "organized" crime.
And a prominent member of Congress wants an investigation into whether such bans should be applied to Amazon and Google and Apple and more.
Rep. Devin Nunes, R-Calif., who was a key player in uncovering much of the evidence of Democrats' misbehavior under the Obama administration, when they took fake information and used it as evidence to attack President Trump and his associates, on Sunday called for a RICO Act investigation into Amazon, Apple and Google, because of their organized attack on Parker, a social media platform that offers competition to some of the more left-wing computer programs online.
Fox reported the comments came on "Sunday Morning Futures" with Maria Bartiromo.
"There should be a racketeering investigation on all the people that coordinated this attack on not only a company, but on all of those like us," he said.
Nunes' comments came after some of the biggest social media corporations in the world announced at virtually the same time they all were attacking Parler, the smaller social media platform that has been attracting conservatives as leftists at larger companies more and more are restricting free speech.
Nunes said the coordinated attack on Parler, which remained offline early this week because of the joint assault on its services, clearly was "a violation" of antitrut, civil rights and RICO requirements.
"I don't know where the hell the Department of Justice is at right now or the FBI," said Nunes, the ranking member of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence.
Nunes said, "I have 3 million followers on Parler. Tonight I will no longer be able to communicate with those people and they’re Americans."
Amazon claimed in its announcement that it was shutting off services to Parler that the company failed to deal with "a steady increase in violent content."
Its critics accused Parler of allowing people to post discussions about violence at the U.S. Capitol, last week.
A Google official told Fox, "We’re aware of continued posting in the Parler app that seeks to incite ongoing violence in the U.S."
But Nunes said the result of the coordinated effort is that "there is no longer a free and open social media company or site for any American to get on any longer."
Those who want to be on social media, he charged, must be willing to be "regulated by left-wingers that are at Twitter and Facebook and Instagram, where you get shadow banned, nobody gets to see you, they get to decide what’s violent and not violent."
Bartiromo noted that the social media industry's moves make it "feel like Communist China, where there is this crackdown on free speech."
The social media companies, Nunes said, are "working for the Democratic socialist party. They’re being cheered on by this. They are state-run media and really it’s the communication system. That’s how people are receiving their information is through this funnel of very few companies that are being controlled by the Democrat socialist party."
The Postmillennial reported that when President Trump created an account on Parler, the company's traffic, which had been growing, "went through the roof."
"This was when Google, Apple and Amazon all cooperated to do their best to shut down Parler for good."
