New Orleans zoo cancels pro-police event because it might be ‘divisive’

(WDSU) – An event at the Audubon Zoo aimed at promoting positive interactive experiences with New Orleans police has been canceled due to public feedback.

According to a statement issued by Audubon Nature Institute, the "Blue at the Zoo" event scheduled for May 10 has been canceled due to public feedback from people who believe the event would be unintentionally divisive rather than inclusive.

The zoo said in its statement that it supports law enforcement but understands that police reform is a topic at the forefront of the nation. Audubon's statement said it is working on alternative ways to promote community engagement.
