Evian apologizes for mentioning water during Ramadan

(RAIR FOUNDATION) – While the Islamic Month-long holiday of Ramadan just started this Tuesday, April 13, the French brand Evian – a Danone subsidiary – has caused an uproar among Muslims who feel insulted by a tweet.

"Retweet if you have already drunk 1 liter of Evian today," published the famous French brand on its Twitter account. Evian is well known for distributing mineral water.

Most would consider the Tweet by Evian's promotions to be a banal message. Yet, it enraged Muslims and launched fake accusations of "islamophobia." The company was criticized for not recognizing that it was the first day of the Islamic holiday, Ramadan, in France. It is a holy month for Muslims during which they practice daytime fasting, including not even drinking water.
