(THE HILL) -- Police in Germany reportedly clashed with anti-lockdown protesters on Saturday, while demonstrations against coronavirus restrictions also occurred in several other European countries.
German news agency dpa reported that roughly 20,000 people attended a protests in Kassel, where videos and photos emerged of police striking protesters and using pepper spray.
"Of course this operation will be critically followed up. The images also raise pressing questions for me. I will not hesitate to inform members of the Interior Committee," said the interior minister of the state of Thuringia, Georg Maier, according to dpa.
